• Dearest Parents, Family, and Friends,

In an effort to protect all family, friends, children, and staff, the Private School Parent Conference, scheduled for March 28, 2020 at Malcolm X College has been canceled. CPS is supporting, Governor Pritzker and Mayor Lightfoot in their effort to control crowds in excess of 250 people. We ask that you support us in social distancing yourself and your family as recommended by city officials. The CDPH has issued Guidance for School and Institutions of Higher Education in responding to COVID-19. We are closely monitoring guidance from the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Center for Disease Control as it relates to the COVID-19 outbreak.

I would ask all caregivers to please take the time to talk to your children about COVID-19. This is not a time to panic but rather to be informed. Please review the items below to help minimize risk to you and your family.

    1. Stay home if you are sick until you are free of fever (100.4°F) and other symptoms for at least 24 hours.
    2. Use good respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or your sleeve when you cough or sneeze. Wash your hands regularly with soap for 20 seconds.
    3. Anyone returning from any country with a Travel Alert Level 3(currently China, Iran, South Korea, and Italy) should stay home and monitor their health for up to 14 days.
    4. Fight fear and stigma. Stigma and discrimination can occur when people associate an infectious disease with a population or nationality.

We thank you for your time and cooperation.
